Chief of Police - Ron Ace Welcome to the Hayward Police Department. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Chief of Police of a quality police organization of 191 sworn police officers and 117 civilian employees who represent the very best in law enforcement. We pride ourselves in delivering the highest quality of service possible.

This is an exciting time for us as we strive to be the premiere law enforcement agency in the San Francisco Bay Area. We understand that crime and the fear of crime can best be reduced through a balanced delivery of policing that consists of three components; prevention, intervention and enforcement. We also recognize that maintaining community safety can only be achieved with the support and involvement of our community.
To achieve our goals of excellence in law enforcement we are implementing several new strategies. Our first objective was to develop and implement a Strategic Plan to serve as a roadmap for the Police Department in its continuous effort to improve service to the residents of Hayward and to achieve the highest standards of policing. Our Strategic Plan is a living document that will help guide the thinking and actions of the Hayward Police Department in our effort to provide quality law enforcement services.

The manner in which we deliver services is anchored by our belief in Community Policing, our focus on service delivery at the neighborhood level, and our community partnerships. The Hayward Police Department has implemented a district policing model that emphasizes a closer working relationship with our residential neighborhoods and our business community. Our overall objective is to improve the quality of life for all of our residents, business owners and visitors.

In 2008 the police department began a process to become nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). It is our desire to be considered among the best and most professional law enforcement agencies in the nation and CALEA accreditation is a process that facilitates that objective. We look forward to being held accountable to the highest standards in law enforcement.

The City of Hayward deserves the very best in law enforcement and as its Chief of Police it is my responsibility to make that happen. Rest assured we are committed to meeting and maintaining the highest standards of police professionalism, and we understand the value of providing superior customer service to those who live, work and visit the City of Hayward (The Heart of the Bay).

Ron Ace, Chief of Police
