Temporary Energy Assistance for Families (TEAF)
This is a one-time payment program sponsored by PG&E and administered by The Salvation Army. This program, authorized by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and made possible with funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), will provide up to $1,500 to income-qualified families who are unable to pay for their energy needs due to unplanned hardships. Taste of Hayward
The City of Hayward in collaboration with the Hayward Chamber of Commerce will present the 1st ever “Taste of Hayward” event on Wednesday, September 29 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at the City Hall Rotunda.
There will be sample wines from over 40 local wineries and exclusive culinary cuisine from some of the best restaurants and caterers in Hayward. More details are located on the flyer attached. However, please mark your calendar for what will be a celebratory event and feel free to forward on to your friends and family so that they can also experience the fine dining choices that the City has to offer.

Pavement Reconstruction – Various Streets, City Project 5111
Beginning September 7, 2010 the City will begin the reconstruction of various City streets. These streets are: Grove Way – Foothill Blvd to Oak St, Havana Avenue-Mantilla Ave to Sumatra St, Lilac Avenue – Sparrow Rd to Cardinal St, Portsmouth Avenue – Sleepy Hollow Ave to Hawthorne Ct, Rockford Road – End to Dead End, & Sorenson Road – Mission Blvd to Luvena Dr. - Sueirro Street – Hesperian Frontage Rd to Thelma St, and Scripps Street – Seaver St to Belhaven St. Work consists, in general, of roadway excavation, placement of full depth hot mix asphalt, full depth asphalt concrete repairs, placement of hot mix asphalt overlay, construction of concrete curb & gutter, installation of curb ramps, adjustment of utilities, and installation of pavement stripes & markers. Work is scheduled to be complete the week of December 6, 2010.
Carlos Bee Boulevard Realignment Project
Work is scheduled to begin on the realignment of Carlos Bee Boulevard on August 19, 2010 and will last approximately four to five months.

Mt. Eden Annexation Areas – Phase 2
Complete street and underground improvements in the Mt Eden Annexation Areas – Phase 2 will begin July 19th and is scheduled to be complete February 2010. Streets to be improved are Eden Avenue, Mohr Drive, Monte Vista Drive, Laguna Drive, Occidental Road, Depot Road, and the Storm Drain Extension from Eden Avenue to Industrial Boulevard.
Street Improvement Work on Myrtle Street
A street improvement project will be taking place on Myrtle Street to re-align Myrtle Street with Martin Luther King Drive to the adjacent subdivision under construction. The construction is scheduled to take place from August 9, 2010 to September 24, 1010.

Road repairs of various City Streets will begin August 2nd and are scheduled to be complete by the end of September, 2010. Work consists of asphalt concrete spot repairs, grinding of existing asphalt concrete, installing pavement reinforcing fabric, placing asphalt concrete overlay, and installing crub ramps on various City Streets.
