Library services for teens
Libraries are a vital resource for teens. Libraries provide access to resources that will help teens succeed in school and life. The Hayward Library provides a safe place for local teens to learn, play, and grow.
Below is a partial list of activities we have that are geared specifically towards teens. Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events and the Latest Issue of AT YOUR LIBRARY for date and time information for any of the activities mentioned below.
Student Friends of the Library
Students in grades 7 & up ca volunteer as a Student Friend to help with the Summer Reading Game or other Library programs and projects in spring and summer. Other projects for young volunteers may be available throughout the year.

Teen Advisory Group (TAG)
Help the library better serve you, and earn community service hours! Be part of the Main Library or Weekes Branch TAG and help plan teen library events, meet cool people, and more! Oh, and snacks—did we mention snacks?

Teen Activity Zone
Grades 7-12
Play games, make crafts, enjoy some snacks, or just hang out with your friends.
Presented in partnership with the Hayward Area Recreation District (H.A.R.D.).
Teens Take Over!
Join us at for Teens Take Over, our teens-only, after-hours party featuring big-screen gaming, karaoke, dancing, crafts, snacks, internet computers and more!
This program is free. Must show school or other valid ID.

Crafting At the Library
Every month we offer a new DIY series where we will explore using natural, recycled, and re-purposed materials to create jewelry, household décor, gifts, and more.
Workshops are free and open to ages 12 and up. Registration is required.
