Public Art Opportunity- Artist All Call

Summary:

The City of Hayward’s Mural Art Program is pleased to announce two (2) new mural art projects. The Mural Art Program’s intent is to partner with local artists to foster: civic pride, cultural diversity, cultural enrichment, and community identity through inspirational artwork.

The City of Hayward Mural Art Program is seeking an experienced artist, or artist-led team to develop an artwork at various locations. (1)  Retaining wall at D Street & Grand Ave. (2) Utility boxes; at various locations.

Artists are asked to submit qualifications to design, fabricate, and install an artwork. Artist may decide to work with the base-project designed perforated metal screening system or consider a more 3-dimensional approach.

Concept- Suggested but not limited to: Including #HaywardBeautiful in a design that reflects- clean, green, and energy efficient.

Budget:

Up to $40,000 for artwork design, fabrication and installation.

MURAL COMPLETION DATE: May 2018 (weather permitting)

 

 

330x13x3 and the total square footage is roughly 2600 sq. ft.

Concept – Open, but not limited to- Hayward monuments/ landmarks

MURAL COMPLETION DATE: May 2018 (weather permitting)

 

 

Application Process:

All artist must submit applications and materials via email to: cecilia.melero@hayward-ca.gov or in person to 777 B Street, Hayward CA 1st Fl. Attn: Cecilia Melero.

Applicants must submit:

·Artist application (new artists only)

·Current resume highlighting past art installation projects

·Provide one reference who can speak to the past art installation and qualifications

·A maximum of four original art works may be submitted

o   Art work must be in color

o   NOTE:

§  Clipart or photos will “not” be accepted

§  Draft renderings will “not” be returned
