Keeping Hayward Clean and Green
A clean city not only enhances our quality of life but also helps deter criminal activity, fosters community pride, and promotes a healthier, more sustainable urban landscape. Learn how Measure C helps in reinforcing the vital connection between a clean, attractive city and the health and safety of its community members.
Litter and Graffiti ControlAnnually, Measure C funds nine additional groundskeeper and maintenance positions at the Hayward Maintenance Services Department, which is responsible for keeping clean and green City streets, sidewalks and other public areas—not including parks managed by the Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District. |
Detering Illegal DumpingMeasure C funding of Maintenance Services operations is giving the department the capacity to experiment, including a new program called Disposal Days. It’s providing community members an additional way to dispose of household debris, safely and legally free of charge, by bringing up to one pickup truck load of material to a City transfer station six times per year. |
Neighborhood BeautificationMeasure C funding of Maintenance Services operations also gives the department capacity to continue to support the City’s Keep Hayward Clean and Green Task Force and its annual program of community-building neighborhood clean-up, planting and beautification events. |
