Earlier closure on BART Fremont line, set to begin Friday July 15
July 14, 2016
HAYWARD - Passengers traveling this weekend between South Hayward and Fremont BART Stations need to prepare for an earlier track closure, set to begin at 9pm on Friday, July 15 rather than the previously scheduled time of 6am on Saturday, July 16. Expect 20 - 40 minute delays when traveling between the South Hayward and Fremont BART Stations. Passengers departing San Francisco as early as 7pm on Friday will be affected.
The schedule change is required to complete critical track work for the new Hayward Maintenance Complex, a facility being built for the new Fleet of the Future. Replacement work is also being done on BART’s power transmission infrastructure through the affected area.
Due to the track work, the Fremont and Union City Stations will be closed. Free shuttle buses will be provided after 9pm on Friday, and throughout Saturday and Sunday between the South Hayward and Union City Stations, as well as between the South Hayward and Fremont Stations. The South Hayward Station will be open and normal weekend service will be provided north of the South Hayward Station.
Also, a portion of the parking lot at the South Hayward Station will be closed to serve as the shuttle bus staging area. Signage will be placed 72 hours in advance to warn those parking in affected spaces of the impending closure and tow-away zone.
We realize this critical maintenance work will be an inconvenience and appreciate your patience – the result will be a safer, smoother, quieter ride on BART.
