Progress Pride Flag-Raising Noon, Tuesday, June 4, at Hayward City Hall

June 3, 2024

Rainbow Progress Pride Flag

In recognition of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month, the City of Hayward will host a ceremonial raising of the Progress Pride flag at noon on Tuesday, June 4, at City Hall Plaza.

The Progress Pride flag, created in 2018 by Daniel Quasar, is a version of the rainbow pride flag that centers Black, Brown, transgender, and non-binary people who experience compounded, disparate outcomes in the LGBTQ community.

The Progress Pride flag will fly at City Hall for the entire month of June—with the ceremonial flag raising occurring prior to the first City Council meeting of the month, during which the Council also is scheduled to proclaim June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer, Intersex, 2-Spirit and Gender Non-Conforming Pride Month in the City of Hayward.

The proclamation to come before the Hayward City Council at its meeting the evening of Tuesday, June 4, reaffirms the City’s commitment to being an equitable, compassionate, and inclusive community, and to supporting dignity, visibility, and cultural responsiveness for our LGBTQ+ community members.
