It may not quite yet feel like sweater weather but get ready to welcome in autumn in Hayward at the Mariachi Festival, South Hayward Market and Hayward Public Library’s annual Trunk or Treat event.

On Oct. 11, the Mariachi Festival will once again take place at City Hall starting at 5 p.m., celebrating Mexican culture with music, food and festivities. Acclaimed mariachi bands will perform, and the festival’s mercado will spotlight local artisans, serve authentic Mexican food and share the rich traditions of Mexican culture.

Spooky season is here in Hayward on Saturday, Oct. 26, as the Hayward Public Library’s annual Trunk or Treat festival, along with Hayward Promise Neighborhood’s PromiseFest, returns to Heritage Plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free event will feature more than 20 trunks, as well as free food, performances, a car show and other family-friendly activities.

The South Hayward Market also returns for the fourth and final time this year to the South Hayward BART Station, hosting live entertainment and local food, produce and other local vendors, including a mobile farmers market, The Rollin’ Root.
