Provide your input on the drawing of Hayward City Council legislative districts
Hayward residents are invited to an online meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, to learn more about and participate in the creation of new legislative districts from which City Council members will be elected starting in 2026.
The change is scheduled to take full effect starting in November 2026 when two of six non-mayoral seats on Hayward’s seven-member Council will be up for election followed by the remaining four non-mayoral seats in November 2028. Elections for mayor will remain at-large.
The online meeting taking place Tuesday, Aug. 13, is the latest in a series that kicked off in May of this year to gather public input on the shape of the geographic legislative districts from which Council members eventually will be elected.
The deadline for the public to submit comment for consideration is Monday, Aug. 19. Comments can be submitted by email to districting@hayward-ca.gov or by mail or dropped off in-person at the Hayward City Clerk’s Office at Hayward City Hall, 777 B Street, Hayward, CA, 94541. Comments can also be made via phone at (510) 583-4444.
