Literacy Plus offers free English Conversation Circles to adults 18+ whose native language is not English and who wish to strengthen their conversational English skills.

Facilitate small group conversation in a casual atmosphere so learners can gain confidence and practice their spoken English! Our tutors focus on practical, everyday topics, and topics are also chosen based on the learners’ interests and needs.
Gain experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds, learn about other cultures and language groups, and make a valuable contribution to our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead small group activities and discussions, usually 2 hours per week
- Submit simple monthly reports on hours and participants
- Maintain contact with Literacy Plus regarding needs, concerns, and any questions that may arise
Requirements:
- Be 18 years of age, or older
- Speak English fluently and clearly
- Flexible, mature, and patient
- Interested in and able to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Commit to at least 6 months
Training and Support:
- Ongoing information and consultation supplied as needed
- Materials provided
