Update – Arrest made in homicide that occurred near 24000 block of Second Street 

HAYWARD, Ca., December. 4, 2024 – After an extensive and complex investigation, detectives and officers made an arrest for the homicide that occurred on June 26, 2024. The crime occurred near the 24000 block of Second street at 1:58 a.m. 

On the night of the homicide, officers responded to reports of a possible shooting and located an unresponsive victim, a 15-year-old out of Rodeo, CA, suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personnel responded and pronounced him deceased at the scene.  

On the night of the shooting a second juvenile victim was located, who had also been shot. He received treatment at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.  

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the person they believe to be responsible for the shooting. On December 4, detectives authored and executed a search warrant near the 21000 block of Mission Blvd and took the subject into custody. 

The person believed to be responsible for the homicide was identified as a 17-year-old Hayward resident. He has since been booked into Juvenile Hall for murder. His name is not being released at this time due to his age.
