Hayward Executive Airport (HWD) is excited to announce the start of an Airport Layout Plan (ALP) Update beginning in September 2022!

In partnership with Kimley-Horn and Associates, the Airport will undergo an iterative process to forecast future aviation activity at HWD and identify existing and projected airport needs. Significant items to be analyzed in the ALP Update include, but are not limited to:

·        Airfield layout and runway configurations

·        Airfield visibility and hotspot mitigation

·        Non-aeronautical development of Airport property

·        Environmental factors including sea level rise

Once airport needs are identified, the ALP Update will explore potential development alternatives that will be combined into a Recommended Development Plan (RDP) and phased over 20-years through environmental, planning, design, and construction. Throughout the ALP Update process, staff will coordinate with a variety of stakeholders to better understand the opportunities and needs of the Airport. Development of the aviation activity forecasts and ALP Drawing Set will be coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and are subject to FAA approval prior to being adopted by the City.
