Alameda County residents may dispose of common household hazardous waste items at no-cost at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility located at 2091 West Winton Avenue. Items include oil-based paints, adhesives, car products, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and sharps. Please note acceptable items, hours of operation, how to package the items and limits for transport.
Businesses and multi-family developments may also dispose of latex paint, aerosol cans, fluorescent lamps and household batteries at low or no cost using the New Express Program. Please note hours of operation and fees.
The Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Collection facility in Hayward accepts – for recycling or disposal – hazardous waste generated by small businesses and households located in Alameda County, subject to certain limitations on drop-off time and the type and quantities of hazardous waste.
While household hazardous waste from Alameda County residents is accepted free of charge, small businesses pay a drop-off fee for this service, based on the type and quantity of hazardous waste delivered.
