False Alarm Reduction Program
Hayward Police respond to nearly 6,500 alarms a year; these include robbery, hold-up, panic, and duress alarms. Approximately 97% are false, which impacts quick and efficient response to real emergencies. Our False Alarm Reduction Program addresses this serious issue.
National Night Out
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Police Activities League (PAL)
Hayward Police Activities League (Hayward PAL) is part of our mission to enhance the quality of life in Hayward by focusing on being proactive and prevention-oriented in the community to develop cooperation, coordination, and relationships between youth, police and community through recreation and cultural enrichment.
Police Explorer Program
The purpose of the Police Explorer Program is to provide young adults who may be interested in a career in law enforcement with a comprehensive program of training, competition, service and practical experiences. Character development, physical fitness, good citizenship and patriotism are integral components of the overall program.
Neighborhood Alert Program
Hayward Neighborhood Alert, in partnership with the Hayward Police Department, establishes Neighborhood Watch Groups, educating and supporting them in crime prevention and safety to improve the quality of life in the City of Hayward.
Police Department Tours
The Hayward Police Department provides tours of the Police facility, allowing residents and visitors to view the Communications Center, Jail-Sally Port, Investigations Bureau, Traffic Bureau-Motorcycle Unit, Records Bureau, Command Offices, and other selected areas.
Reserve Officer Program
The Hayward Reserve Police Bureau is a volunteer organization, whose members supplement full time paid officers.The Reserves have been in existence since the 1950’s and continue to play a critical role in the activities of the Hayward Police Department.
Ride Along Program
Get a first-hand look at law enforcement through the eyes of one of our officers. Members of the community may ride along with uniformed Hayward police officers while they perform their shift patrol duties.
Stop Graffiti Rewards Program
Graffiti devalues property, invites crime, and gives an impression that a community is an unsafe and undesirable place to live and do business. The City of Hayward provides a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a graffiti vandal.
Youth Academy
The Hayward Police Department’s Community Youth Academy is a week long program offered annually each summer.
