Hayward PD, CHP, and community collaborate to arrest two for assault with a deadly weapon; two handguns recovered.
Two women were arrested after firing a gun into a moving vehicle in Hayward, striking the trunk of the car before fleeing the scene in their own car. Luckily, the victim was able to see the license plate before they fled and provided it to CHP dispatchers who answered the 9-1-1 call.
While Hayward officers spoke with the victim, CHP did an area check for the car. CHP officers found the car unoccupied, but two women walked up to the car to get inside a short time later. Both fled once they realized officers were nearby but were detained a short distance later. Ring doorbell camera footage then aided officers in locating two handguns that were discarded just prior to being detained.
Both women were positively identified as the two involved in the shooting in Hayward and were arrested.
We want to thank the California Highway Patrol and the community for their assistance in bringing this case to a safe resolution. We are also grateful no one was hurt as a result of the shooting.
