  • The next General Municipal Election will be held on November 5, 2024.
  • Four (4) Council Member seats will be up for election.
  • Council Members are elected and serve 4-year terms. To qualify, a candidate must be a registered voter of the City of Hayward.

All Hayward active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election.  The Alameda County Registrar of Voters started mailing ballots on February 5, 2024. Hayward Vote Centers will open early as follows:

February 24, 2024 to March 4, 2024 (9am-5pm) and March 5, 2024 (Election Day: 7am - 8pm)

The last day to register to vote for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election is February 20, 2024.  Mailed vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by March 12, 2024.
