New Hayward community calendar launched

The City of Hayward announces the launch of a new community calendar of events.

The Community Calendar was created in response to requests for a consolidated listing of public events beyond those that appear on the official City of Hayward Calendar, which traditionally has been reserved for official city meetings and events and those that are all or in part sponsored by the City of Hayward.

In addition to events posted by the City of Hayward, Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District and the Hayward Unified School District, community members and organizations will also be able to submit events to the Community Calendar.  All events submitted to the calendar must be open to the public and be held in the City of Hayward. City staff will review all submissions to ensure that they comply with guidelines, such as no profane language or content, or solicitations of commerce.

The calendar also is intended to be responsive to the spirit and objectives of the Hayward Community Task Force and the City’s recently updated anti-discrimination plan, The Commitment for an Inclusive, Equitable and Compassionate Community.  We hope the new calendar will serve as a clearinghouse for a diverse array of community events.

Community members can view the calendar, the complete posting guidelines and procedures, and submit an event for posting on the City of Hayward Website at www.hayward-ca.gov/discover/community-calendar.
