Hayward is seeking applicants for appointment to the city Planning Commission

Prospective commissioners must be Hayward residents and registered to vote in city elections.

HAYWARD, Calif., June 12, 2017—The City of Hayward announced today it is seeking applicants for appointment to the city Planning Commission.

The seven-member Hayward Planning Commission conducts public hearings and makes decisions on use permits, variances, site plan and architectural reviews, and related planning and zoning actions for residential, commercial and industrial development and subdivisions of land.

The Commission also makes recommendations related to planning regulations, design review policies, development of parks and open space and the city’s General Plan.

Prospective applicants must be registered voters residing within Hayward city limits. Interested individuals may apply online here or by completing an application available at the Office of the City Clerk, 777 B Street, Hayward, CA, 94541, or by calling (510) 583-4400.

The application submission deadline is Monday, July 10, 2017, 5:00 p.m. Interviews with the City Council are scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2017.

Planning Commission terms run for four years in length. The Commission vacancy for which the city is seeking applicants was created by a resignation and is for an unexpired term ending September 30, 2018.
