East Bay Green Home Tour 2024

May 28, 2024

On June 1st Hayward residents have the opportunity to see what their East Bay neighbors are doing with their homes to combat climate change, improve air quality, generate clean energy, conserve water, and move towards a greener future.

This year’s Green Home Tour will include a virtual tour of 3 homes from 10am-11am and an in-person tour of 12 homes across Alameda County from 1pm-4pm. See green home features, systems, and appliances up close.

Stefanie’s 933 square-foot home in San Leandro was built in 1946 and heated with a single gas wall heater. Since 2016 she has made numerous energy efficient upgrades.

By utilizing BayREN for their list of contractors and their rebates, as well as redeeming tax credits, Stephanie was able to save thousands of dollars on an energy assessment, insulation, weather stripping and air sealing, rooftop solar, and many more home improvements.

BayREN is funded through the California Public Utilities Commission and serves the Bay Area's nine counties with outreach, training, technical assistance, funding and resources. BayREN's Multi-family and Single-family programs provide hundreds of dollars in incentives for eligible residents, homeowners, and property owners to make home energy efficiency upgrades. Money is available to upgrade electric appliances such as heat pump water heaters, induction cooktops, and heat pump dryers as well as repair home insulation and HVAC to increase energy efficiency. A full list of incentives and eligibility requirements is available here
