Hayward Household Hazardous Waste Facility Open for Walk Ins
The Hayward Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility, which celebrated 30 years of operation this year, is pleased to announce that appointments are no longer needed to drop-off waste. Appointments were previously required due to COVID-19 restrictions, but now Hayward residents may stop by the Facility to drop off waste anytime between 9:00am-2:30pm Thursdays and Fridays and 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturdays. Please see the StopWaste website for holiday hours and further guidelines.
To make the drop off process as safe and efficient as possible, upon arrival, please remain in your vehicle and allow a HHW Facility staff member to retrieve the waste from an unlocked trunk or storage area. Be sure to have your driver’s license ready to confirm your Alameda County residency.
The Hayward HHW Facility is equipped to handle a wide range of waste. If cooking oil or grease is poured down the drain it clogs pipes and damages sewer systems, so when planning your holiday meal menus remember any turkey fry oil or oil from other holiday dishes can be disposed of at the Hayward HHW Facility. Other notable accepted materials include e-waste and car maintenance waste such as antifreeze, motor oil, and dirty oil filters. A complete list of acceptable items can be found here.
The Hayward Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility is located at 2091 West Winton Avenue, Hayward, CA 94545. (Map)
