Hayward District Votes $1,000,000 for High Schools

HAYWARD, May 22—The $1,000,000 Hayward Union High School District bond issue, intended to bring the district to its bonding capacity so it can qualify for state aid in an expansion program, was carried by voters in all 17 precincts by 2707 to 613.

With the bond and state aid, the district plans to build new high schools at Castro Valley and San Lorenzo. Each proposed school will have an estimated enrollment of 1200 students.

The bond issue was passed by all 17 of the following precincts by the accompanying figures:

Russell City, 34-10; Independence, 47-2; San Lorenzo, 116-4; Valle Vista, 47-14; Tennyson, 115-18; Burbank, 256-76: Redwood. 23-5: Palomares, 23-11: Stoneybrook, 8-0: Mt. Eden, 168-131: Markham. 463-160; San Lorenzo Village, 449-12: Sunset, 138-14; Muir, 66-31; Castro Valley. 367-41; Ashland, 228-32, and Fairmont. 159-52.
