Measure B/BB and Vehicle Registration Fee Funded Projects
Voter approved Measure B, Measure BB ½ cent sales tax, and the $10 Vehicle Registration Fees for vehicles registered in Alameda County fund improvements to Hayward roadways and bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and are administered by the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC).
Roadway Improvement Projects
- 2016 – 2017 - $5.1 million in Measures B, BB and VRF funding, as well as additional Gas Tax and one-time funding from local tax Measure C, was utilitzed to complete the largest street pavement improvement program in Hayward history. Approximately 69 miles of City streets were slurry sealed and an additional 37 lane miles were rehabilitated or reconstructed.
- 2017-2018 - $10.2 million in Measure B/BB/VRF funding enabled the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and/or slurry sealing of approximately 30 lane miles of City streets.
- 2017-2018 - $21.5 million in Measure BB funding contributed to the final design and construction of Phase 2 (Blanche Street to Industrial Parkway) and Phase 3 (A Street to Rose Street) of the Mission Boulevard (Hwy 238) improvement project.
- 2018-2019 - $3.3 million in Measure B/BB/VRF funding, plus $3.5 million in Gas Tax/Road Repair & Accountability Act (SB1) funding, enabled rehabilitation and preventive maintenance of approximately 17 lane miles of City streets.
- 2019-2020 - $9.0 million in Measure B/BB/VRF funding, plus $3.4 million in Gas Tax/Road Repair & Accountability Act (SB1) funding, enabled rehabilitation and preventive maintenance treatment of approximately 42 lane miles of City streets. - 2020-2021 - $6.4 million in Measure B/BB/VRF funding, plus $4.0 million in Gas Tax/Road Repair & Accountability Act (SB1) funding, will fund rehabilitation and preventive maintenance of approximately 17 lane miles of City streets. [Project website coming soon!]
Sidewalks and Pedestrian Improvement Projects
- 2016 - $1.2 million in Measure B/BB bicycle and pedestrian funding was utilized to construct new sidewalk along portions of Hayward Boulevard and Donald Avenue.
- 2018 - $795,000 in Measure B/BB bicycle and pedestrian funding was utilized for various new sidewalks, as well as to maintain and upgrade the City’s network of pedestrian traffic signals and update the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
- 2017-2019 - $2.5 million in Measure B/BB bicycle and pedestrian funding was utilized to construct new sidewalk along Walpert Street, Muir Street, and Calhoun Street.
- 2020-2022 - $3.3 million in Measure B/BB bicycle and pedestrian funding was utilized to construct new sidewalk along Hesperian Blvd, 4th Street, and Valley Street. [Project website coming soon!]
Paratransit Projects
- 2020-2021 - $2,700,000 in Measure BB funding will be used to implement Safe Routes for Seniors improvements in Downtown Hayward.
