City Hall and Nonessential Services Closure: Thursday, Jun. 19, 2025

Hayward City Hall will be closed, and nonessential municipal services will be paused Thursday, Jun. 19, 2025, in observance of Juneteenth. City Hall will reopen and municipal services will be restored to their regular schedule, Friday, Jun. 20. Specific information about departments, programs, and services during this period is provided below:

  1. Street Sweeping: No street-sweeping or citation enforcement will occur during the closure. Street-sweeping will resume its regular schedule the day following the closures. Review the schedule here.
  2. Hayward Public Library: Both branches will be closed. Online check-outs of books, movies, and more are available via the digital library here.
  3. Permit Applications: New permit applications and resubmittals can be submitted through the Hayward e-Permits Portal during the closure. Staff will begin reviewing materials after Jun. 20, 2025. For more information, visit the Permit Center.
  4. Hayward Police Department Customer Service Counter: The counter will be closed, regular business hours will resume on Friday, Jun. 20.
  5. Hayward Animal Shelter: The Hayward Animal Shelter will be closed.  To report in-progress dog attack or animal cruelty, dial  9-1-1.  To report a sick or injured animal, call the police department’s non-emergency line at (510) 293-7272.   6. Revenue Center/Bill Payments: Closed for in-person payments. Payments can be made by calling (510) 583-4636, using online portals, or the self-service kiosk outside City Hall. Explore alternative payment options here.
  7. Water Service Emergency: To report a water service emergency, call the Hayward Police Department Non-Emergency Dispatch Line at (510) 583-2700.
