First below-market-rate SoHay homes available for purchase
The first six income-restricted homes priced exclusively for sale to moderate-and lower-income buyers at the new SoHay residential development near South Hayward BART station are set to be made available this spring.
The one-bedroom, one-bathroom, 429-square-foot condominiums are the first of a total of 28 below-market-rate “affordable” units being built and offered for sale as part of the development project by Taylor Morrison, formerly William Lyon Homes. In all, the project, at 29362 Mission Boulevard, calls for 472 for-sale and rental living units and 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space connected by trails and paseos across 25 acres.
To qualify for a below-market-rate SoHay condo, buyers must have annual income at or less than 120 percent of the Area Median Income adjusted for household size—which is $93,850 for an individual, $107,250 for two people, $120,650 for a family of three, $134,050 for a household of four, and proportionately higher for larger households.
To register for the lottery by which the condos will be sold, start by signing up for a User Account and requesting an Application ID at www.MyHouseKeys.com, and by arranging to attend one of three upcoming and mandatory Home Buyer Orientation Classes: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Hayward City Hall City Council Chambers, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 21, at Sorensdale Recreation Center, 275 Goodwin St., Hayward; and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Matt Jimenez Center, 28200 Ruus Rd., Hayward.
Lottery drawings for two of six units at a time are scheduled to take place Saturday, March 28, Friday, April 10, and Friday April 24. For more information on the process, go online to www.housekeys8.com, call (877) 460-5397, or email programs@housekeys.org.
