Five arrested for homicide that occurred in 2020
HAYWARD, Calif., Mar. 18, 2022— On Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at about 12:24 AM officers responded to the 25000 block of Eldridge Avenue for report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located four adult victims suffering from gunshot wound(s).
One of the victims, identified as 19-year-old San Mateo resident, Ashley Sandoval, was transported to a local medical facility for treatment, but succumbed to her injuries on Dec. 6, 2020. The three other victims sustained injuries but survived the incident.
During the investigation, detectives identified five different suspects for the homicide. All five subjects were arrested for the following: one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of discharging a firearm into an inhabited vehicle.
The suspects have been identified as the following:
-19-year-old Hayward resident, Jose Bedolla, was arrested on 03-09-2022.
-22-year-old Hayward resident, Sonia Gonzalez, was arrested on 03-09-2022.
-21-year-old San Mateo resident, Taiz VegaMendoza, was arrested on 03-11-2022.
-23-year-old San Carlos resident, Julissa AguilarYoc, was arrested on 03-14-2022.
-19-year-old Manteca resident, Kevin Colindres, was arrested on 03-16-2022.
Chief Toney Chaplin gave the following remarks regarding the investigation:
“To say the Hayward Police Department has worked tirelessly on this investigation would be an understatement. From the patrol officers who responded to the 9-1-1 call, to the detectives, crime scene technicians, support staff, and many others, our organization worked as a team to ensure every step was taken to solve this case.
As the investigation continued, lead Homicide Detective Humpert and several other detectives authored countless warrants, conducted numerous interviews, and completed other investigative steps to ensure this case was brought toward a resolution so that justice could be served.
The collective effort by everyone involved is a reflection of the fine men and women of this organization and shows their dedication of service to the Hayward community.
Furthermore, I want to thank the San Mateo Police Department and San Mateo Sheriff’s Office for their partnership and collaboration with our detectives throughout the course of the investigation.
We also want to thank the community for their assistance with this investigation, as their help also had a significant impact on this outcome.
Finally, our thoughts are with the three surviving victims and the Sandoval family, as they continue to mourn the loss of their loved one, Ashley.”
