Fall 2019 Compost Giveaway scheduled for Saturday, October 19

September 24, 2019

Attention all Hayward residents, gardeners, landscapers, and plant lovers -- Hayward’s Fall 2019 Compost Giveaway will take place on Saturday, October 19th at Tennyson High School (27035 Whitman Street) between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

The City of Hayward, in partnership with Waste Management, invites all Hayward residents and property managers to stop by and collect up to four one-cubic-foot bags of WM EarthCareTM Homegrown Compost while supplies last.

This high-quality compost is made from yard trimmings and food scraps collected in organics carts and bins across Alameda County. Compost is a great addition to garden beds, potted plants, or around the base of trees. For more information on ways to use compost and how it’s made, check out StopWaste’s “All About Compost” webpage.

Attendees of the Fall 2019 Compost Giveaway must bring proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or current Waste Management bill.  For more information, including driving instructions and a copy of the required product waiver for the Fall 2019 Compost Giveaway, please visit
