Hayward public service organizations will gather Tuesday, Oct. 8, to honor dozens of outstanding Hayward community members during the annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Dinner.

Hosted at St. Rose Hospital’s Grand White Tent, the event, in its 42nd year, is sponsored by the City of Hayward and Alameda County, and has severed as an opportunity to thank Hayward’s most dedicated community members with Hearts of Hayward awards.

This year, the contributions of former Hayward City Councilmember Larry Ratto and founding member of La Alianza de Hayward, Frank Garcia, are to be featured.

Ratto, an education advocate and civic leader, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.  Garcia will receive the John N. Papas Humanitarian Award for his longtime community activism.
