Rising Sun Center for Opportunity now hiring summer job seekers interested in sustainability
Rising Sun Center for Opportunity is now hiring for their summer Climate Careers earn-and-learn program, offering students and others in the early stages of their career development opportunities to gain experience in local sustainability efforts.
Rising Sun has been deploying teams of Energy Specialists in Hayward since 2010. These teams go into their communities and provide no-cost “Green House Calls” to residents during which they perform at-home energy and water audits, install energy and water saving devices such as all new LED light bulbs, smart power strips, and kitchen aerators, as well as provide education and coaching regarding how to better conserve water, save energy, and lower their bills while reducing their impact on the environment.
Last year, the efficiency upgrades installed by Hayward’s ten Energy Specialists are estimated to have prevented more than 51 metric tons in annual CO2 emissions. This emission reduction was the result of the installation of thousands of LED light bulbs, as well as hundreds of low-flow water fixtures and efficient power strips, among other upgrades.
