Curbside pickup of library materials now available through Hayward Public Library ‘HPL to Go’
HAYWARD, Calif., June 27, 2020—The Hayward Public Library will begin providing curbside pickup of library materials through a new HPL to Go program, Library Services Director Jayanti Addleman announced today.
Through HPL to Go, library users may request items to pick up outside the Downtown Hayward library by going online at https://bit.ly/hpltogo or calling (510) 881-7980 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
“We have really missed seeing our library users and supporters on a regular basis and are so very excited that our library materials will be available to the public again,” said Director Addleman. “HPL staff members have been working very hard to make sure we have a safe process in place to get books and DVDs back into circulation, and we know library users will be very pleased.”
Materials ordered through HPL to Go will be available in two days unless the items are already checked out, and requestors will be notified in advance by email or phone that their items are ready. Requestors are asked to wait to receive notice that their materials are ready before coming to the library to collect them.
“We realize how excited everyone is about being able to pick up their library materials, but we ask for patience,” Director Addleman added. “We have a lot of requests to fill, and are working as fast as we can.”
Pickup will be available between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday outside of the Downtown Library north entrance between the library and Watkins and Mission streets garage.
People picking up materials must wear a mask or other face covering and are asked to walk up to the service table, provide their name, the last four digits of the phone number associated with their library card account, and they will be handed their HPL to Go order.
For more information and to get answers to questions about the program, call (510) 881-7980 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
