City Hall to You—Bringing local government to your neighborhood
Over the next six weeks, the City of Hayward will bring local government to the neighborhoods through a special set of Thursday virtual meetings and Saturday in-person drop-by events to provide updates on new initiatives and receive feedback on City programs, policies and services.
During this new six-week project called City Hall to You, City staff will provide brief updates on Hayward COVID-19 response and trends; new public safety initiatives prioritizing new models of mental-health crisis response; new housing access and homelessness response strategies; new approaches to addressing blight and other quality of life issues, and much more.
Another new initiative that will be presented is a community-based participatory budgeting project called Hayward People's Budget. Through Hayward People’s Budget, residents across six geographic sectors will make decisions on how to allocate $50,000 to $69,000 per sector.
The Thursday evening City Hall to You virtual meetings schedule is as follows:
- Southeast and Hills: Sector 5 |Sept. 16, 6-7 p.m.
- North: Sector 6 | Sept. 23, 6-7 p.m.
- Central-Northern: Sector 4 | Sept. 30, 6-7 p.m.
- Central-Southern: Sector 2 |Oct. 7, 6-7 p.m.
- Southwest: Sector 1 | Oct. 14, 6-7 p.m.
- Northwest: Sector 3 | Oct. 21, 6-7 p.m.
The corresponding Saturday afternoon City Hall to You drop-by in the park events will take place:
- Fairway Greens Park: Vanderbilt Street | Sept. 18, 10-11:30 a.m.
- Cannery Park: B Street | Sept. 25, 10-11:30 a.m.
- JA Lewis Park: Hayward Boulevard | Sept. 25, 1-2:30 p.m.
- Sorensdale Park: Goodwin Street | Oct. 2, 10-11:30 a.m.
- Tennyson Park: Huntwood Avenue | Oct. 9, 10-11:30 a.m.
- Mt. Eden Park: West Tennyson Road | Oct. 16, 10-11:30 a.m.
