Police Officer Memorial Day
Today is Peace Officer Memorial Day, a day we give special remembrance to the law enforcement officers that paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
To honor those who lost their lives, some of our officers participated in this year’s Police Unity Tour; a 4-day, 300-mile bicycle ride to raise awareness of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty and to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial. Our Traffic Division also had the opportunity to attend this year’s Sacramento Peace Officer Memorial Service. (Pictured above)
As we take time to remember the fallen, may we also remember their families, and may we live a life of gratitude for those who gave their lives serving our community.
May we never forget:
Sergeant Scott Lunger (EOW 07/22/15), Officer Benjamin Worcester (EOW 03/25/87), Police Assistant Robert Reed (EOW 06/29/74), Officer Bobby McSpadden (EOW 08/04/72), and Officer George Vierra (EOW 09/16/29).
