Homicide Investigation – 3000 block of W. Winton Avenue
HAYWARD, Calif., On Saturday, Apr. 20, at about 6:24 p.m., officers responded to the 3000 block of W. Winton Avenue after receiving a 9-1-1 call regarding two subjects suffering from gunshot wounds inside a parked vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and located the two subjects, suffering from gunshot wounds.
A 31-year-old female was located in the front passenger seat, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medical personnel responded and pronounced the female deceased at the scene.
The woman’s identity is being withheld at this time, pending notifications to next of kin and formal identification protocols through the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.
A 36-year-old male was located in the front driver seat of the vehicle, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The man’s identity is being withheld at this time pending, notifications to next of kin and formal identification protocols through the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.
A handgun was located and recovered at the scene.
Witnesses reported an argument ensued between the two inside the vehicle prior to gunshots being heard. Further investigation is being conducted to confirm the nature of their relationship.
At this time, it is believed the man shot the front passenger before taking his own life.
This is an ongoing investigation, and our understanding of the events that took place may change. More details will be released when they become available.
