Arrest made in homicide that took place near the
24000 block of Silva Avenue
HAYWARD, Calif., On Dec. 19, 2024, at about 10:50 a.m., detectives arrested the man believed to be responsible for a double stabbing that occurred on Aug. 18, 2024, near the 24000 block of Silva Avenue that resulted in the death of one victim and injuries to another.
On Aug. 18, 2024, at approximately 2:06 a.m., officers responded to the report of an altercation that escalated to an assault with a deadly weapon near the 24000 block of Silva Avenue.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 39-year-old male suffering from stab wounds. Medical personnel responded and pronounced the man deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as Hayward resident, Jose Quevedo.
A second victim, 37-year-old female and Hayward resident, was also located at the scene suffering from stab wounds. The female was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and later released for non-life-threatening injuries. Her identity is known but is being withheld at this time.
Detectives conducted a comprehensive investigation, which included collecting and analyzing evidence, conducting interviews, and pursuing every investigative lead. Their diligent and collaborative efforts led to the identification and arrest of Hayward resident, 34-year-old, Randall Stoops.
Stoops is currently in custody at the Santa Rita County Jail for murder and attempted murder.
