What is an electric induction cooktop?
An electric induction cooktop is a safer, more energy-efficient option for everyday stovetop cooking. It heats up faster and has better temperature control than a gas stove. Using an induction cooktop in place of a gas stove also eliminates a major source of air pollution in your home.
Want to test out an induction cooktop yourself?
The City of Hayward, in partnership with Acterra, is excited to announce that residents can check out a portable induction cooktop and cookware (see photo above) at no cost for up to three weeks! Residents can fill out this interest form and choose City Hall (777 B St.) as their preferred pickup location to get on the cooktop loan waiting list.
After filling out the interest form, a representative will get back to you to schedule your cooktop loaner. All residents who participate in the cooktop loaner program must sign a waiver in either English or Spanish.
