Fiscal Year 2024 Pavement Improvement Project (PIP)

Contstruction Workers paving streets

The City of Hayward is gearing up to start its annual pavement improvement project bringing over $13 million of spot repairs, micro surfacing, pavement grinding and overlay, curb ramp upgrades, and restriping, including bike lane and crosswalk improvements to more than 41 lane miles of roadway.

The project is expected to start in July and completed by end of November.

125 streets segments are to be included in the Fiscal Year 2024 Pavement Improvement Project. Residents will receive a 72-hour notice of the exact time of work provided by the contractor, MCK Services, Inc.

Street segments included in the Fiscal Year 2024 project have been selected based on City evaluation of current pavement conditions, public and City Council input, grouping streets by neighborhood for cost and schedule efficiency, and available funding.

The City’s annual Pavement Improvement Project is funded through a combination of Alameda County Measure BB and C sales tax revenue, gas tax revenue, state vehicle registration fees, street system improvement funds, and the California Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
