Fatal Collision Investigation – Hesperian Blvd
HAYWARD, Calif., October 5, 2021 - On Saturday, October 2, 2021, at about 6:08 AM, officers responded to the report of an injury collision involving a sedan and semi-truck near the intersection of Tennyson Rd and Hesperian Blvd.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed a collision had occurred and the two occupants of the sedan were trapped inside the car, requiring the use of rescue equipment by the Hayward Fire Department.
Once the occupants were rescued from the vehicle, emergency medical personnel transported them to Eden Hospital for treatment.
The passenger of the sedan sustained major injuries as a result of the crash but is in stable condition.
The driver of the sedan, a 26-year-old Hispanic male, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The identity of the driver is known, however is being withheld at this time, pending notifications to the next of kin.
The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, and it is not believed he is at fault for the collision.
It is believed alcohol was a factor in the cause of this collision.
