Fatal Collision – W. Winton Ave/Clawiter Rd
HAYWARD, Calif., On Sunday, February 19, 2023, at about 7:28PM, officers responded to the report of a collision involving two vehicles near the intersection of W. Winton Ave and Clawiter Rd.
Officers arrived on scene and discovered both involved vehicles still on scene.
A 50-year-old male and the solo occupant in one of the involved vehicles was found unconscious and suffering from injuries as a result of the collision. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
A 22-year-old male and the solo occupant inside the other involved vehicle was contacted at the scene and is cooperative with the investigation.
The victim’s identity is known but is not being released at this time, pending formal identification protocols by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau and notifications to next of kin.
It is believed alcohol/impairment was a factor in this collision.
This is an active investigation and additional details will be released as they become available.
The Hayward Police Department case number is 2023-9990.
This is Hayward’s first fatal collision in 2023.
