The City of Hayward and other local agencies and organizations are teaming up to mark the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of Hayward as a city with a birthday party celebration on Wednesday, March 11 at City Hall Plaza.
The event, still in the planning stages, is scheduled to take place from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 150 years to the day since Hayward’s incorporation as a municipality by the State of California on March 11, 1876.
The Hayward 150 Birthday Celebration will serve as the formal kick-off of sesquicentennial activities and observations supported by the City through calendar year 2026. Participating agencies and groups include Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District (HARD), Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) and the Hayward Area Historical Society.
At the event, there will be commemorative cupcakes, beverage refreshment stands, a stage for musical, spoken word and other performances, singing of the Happy Birthday song, activities specifically for children and more.
