On Saturday, May 9, the City of Hayward will offer Hayward households free compost during the City’s Spring Compost Giveaway. 

Community members can visit the parking lot of the former Skywest Golf Course at 1401 Golf Course Road from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. to receive four bags of locally produced WM EarthCareTM Homegrown Compost. There is a limited supply of compost, so it will be offered only while supplies last. This event is offered to Hayward households as part of the City’s Franchise Agreement with Waste Management of Alameda County. The compost is made in part from food scraps and yard trimmings collected from Hayward residents. 

A waiver must be signed in order to receive compost. Waivers will be mailed to all Hayward households indicating which Compost Giveaway date residents should attend. Community members can download the compost waiver, or fill one out at the event. Traffic is often heavy at this event, so please be patient and considerate, and remember to enter the event from the south by using Skywest Drive and West A Street. Residents can carpool with neighbors.
