Three Arrested, 44 Cited at Hayward DUI Checkpoint

Hayward, Calif. – On March 3rd, 2023, three people were arrested for DUI at a DUI checkpoint. The DUI checkpoint was held at Foothill Blvd and City Center Dr. from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. 44 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license; 588 total vehicles were contacted.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

The next DUI checkpoint will be held on August 25th, 2023.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
