Fatal Collision- Intersection of Harder Rd and Soto Rd

HAYWARD, Calif., On Monday, August 31, 2026, at approximately 12:10 a.m., officers responded to the report of a collision involving a vehicle and bicyclist near the intersection of Harder Rd and Soto Rd. 

Officers arrived and located all involved parties.   

The driver, a 52-year-old adult male and Hayward resident, was on scene when officers arrived. He was cooperative and provided a statement regarding the incident. The driver’s identity is not being released at this time. 

The bicyclist, a 62-year-old male adult, was located at the scene of the collision suffering from injuries related to the collision. Medical personnel responded and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 

The identity of the pedestrian is currently being withheld pending notifications to next of kin and formal identification protocols by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office. 

It is not believed drugs or alcohol are a factor in this collision.
