Fatal Collision Update - Arrest Made

Charges filed in major collision that led to fatality

HAYWARD, Calif., Feb. 3, 2022 – The Hayward Police Department’s Traffic Division has been investigating a major collision that took place on Jan. 1, 2022, which later resulted in a fatality.

The collision involved two “solo occupant” vehicles and took place near the intersection of Carlos Bee Blvd and Mission Blvd. Both parties sustained major injuries and were transported to local medical facilities for treatment.

The victim, 26-year-old, David Anderson, of Hayward, later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on Jan. 6, 2022.

The suspect, 27-year-old Kenneth Santos, who is on active parole for burglary and county probation for evasion from a police officer, was placed on a parole hold following the collision. On Jan. 25, 2022, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Santos in this case with first degree murder, and he remains in custody.
