HAYWARD, Calif., Oct. 26, 2017—Hayward City Hall will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, for an emergency simulation and response training, the city announced today.

The simulation and training will entail a significant police and firefighter-paramedic presence, which could be mistaken for a genuine emergency and generate calls to local news organizations and social media reports.

The city plans to have public information officers on duty outside the building to respond to public inquiries and will be actively monitoring social media platforms to respond to reports and answer questions as needed.
