Home Security Tips

Most burglaries can be prevented.

In many of these burglaries, no force was used. That means the burglars got in through UNLOCKED doors and windows. Always lock your doors and windows even when leaving for “just a minute.”  Never leave a house key available; under a doormat, in a flowerpot, or on the ledge of the door. These are the first places a burglar will look.

Youth Diversion Program

YFSB offers Diversion Counseling and Petty Theft Workshops to eligible youth and their families. Eligible youth are typically first time offenders who have committed minor crimes; however the determination of who qualifies is made on a case by case basis by the School Resource Officer Sergeant, sometimes in collaboration with YFSB Counseling staff. The intent of these services is to divert minors from the Juvenile Court System through offering a learning experience as an alternative to time spent in Juvenile Hall.

Chabot College Partnership

The Chabot College Department of Campus Safety and Security is comprised of a unique partnership between Chabot College and the Hayward Police Department. This blend of police and civilian staff affords a greater range of efficient services to our campus community. Officers are on duty at all times when classes are in session, and on weekends and holidays to patrol the campus. Officers enforce the laws of the United States, State of California and regulations adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District.

Community Services

We are a liaison between the Police Department and the community, utilizing various forms of outreach in order to engage and educate community members, empowering them with the knowledge and tools to avoid being a victim of crime, and to proactively deter crime in their neighborhoods.
