HAYWARD, Calif., April 16, 2026—The City of Hayward is excited to announce the launch of Hayward Amplified, a new grant program designed to support local businesses in hosting events and experiences that bring customers in and activate commercial corridors throughout the city.
Building on the success of prior small business programs, Hayward Amplified represents a shift toward business-led activation, empowering local entrepreneurs to design and host events that reflect their brand, create energy, and drive foot traffic.
Hayward Amplified is being introduced as the Bay Area prepares to host the FIFA World Cup—and as the City looks to harness that regional momentum by supporting businesses in creating local experiences, including watch parties and themed activation events.
Through this competitive program, the City will award approximately $75,000 in total funding, with grants of approximately $15,000 each. Selected businesses will receive funding and technical support to implement creative activations aimed at increasing customer engagement, strengthening corridor vibrancy and encouraging repeat visits.
Eligible activation activities include live music or DJ nights, community meetups and social gatherings, influencer-hosted events, food and retail collaborations, art installations and creative experiences, themed popups and promotional events, watch parties for major sporting events and shows, and other creative events and activities that draw customers in and create a unique experience.
The program is open to Hayward-based businesses with a customer-facing storefront and valid City business license. Applicants must be in good standing and demonstrate the ability to host and promote events at their location.
Applications are now open and will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. Grants will be awarded while funds remain available, and applicants are encouraged to apply early. The deadline to apply is May 29.
