National Night Out is an annual summer event designed to strengthen police-community relationships and promote neighborhood camaraderie nationwide.

In Hayward, neighborhood-based National Night Out gatherings will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, providing an opportunity for neighborhoods to host events ranging from small potlucks and barbecues to large block parties.

To ensure Hayward police and other City representatives can attend, please register your neighborhood event by Monday, July 27. Registration is free.

Event ideas for National Night Out include ice cream socials, disaster preparedness trainings, games, contests, food and clothing drives, neighborhood clean-up and beautification projects and discussions or planning of a Neighborhood Watch Program.

If you prefer a simpler way to participate and show support, simple switch on your porch light from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4. To learn more about National Night Out in Hayward, visit the program page on the City of Hayward website.
