Search begins for new Hayward public schools superintendent
The Hayward Unified School District Board of Education has begun the search for a new superintendent following the appointment of outgoing Superintendent Matt Wayne to lead San Francisco Unified School District.
Late last month, the Board of Education appointed Hayward Unified Associate Superintendent Chien Wu-Fernandez to serve as interim superintendent starting July 1 and announced executive search firm, McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., would lead the recruitment of candidates to succeed Superintendent Wayne.
Ms. Wu-Fernandez has served Hayward Unified School District for 17 years, first as director of student services and for the past six years as associate superintendent for student and family services.
As part of the search for a successor to Superintendent Wayne, the Board of Education has invited community input on “building a profile for the ideal candidate” through a series of online meetings and this online survey that closes on June 16.
