Two Hayward summertime community entertainment traditions return this week with the first of three Thursday night downtown Street Parties and a Father’s Day start to the Hayward Municipal Band Summer Concert series.

Presented by the Hayward Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Hayward Street Parties will take place on B Street between Foothill and Mission boulevards and Main Street between A and C streets from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 12, July 17 and Aug. 21. Admission is free for all.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for this year’s Hayward Municipal Band Summer Concerts, which will be held at Memorial Park, just behind the Hayward Plunge, starting this Sunday, June 15, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Band’s Summer Concerts have entertained Hayward residents for more than 60 years and are once again free of charge.
