Fatal Collision – Industrial Blvd/Baumberg Ave

HAYWARD, Calif., On Thursday, March 23, 2023, at about 5:05 p.m., officers responded to the report of a collision involving three vehicles near the intersection of Industrial Blvd and Baumberg Ave.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered all three involved vehicles still on scene.

An 86-year-old female and the sole occupant in one of the involved vehicles was found unconscious and suffering from injuries as a result of the collision. The female was transported to a local hospital for treatment where she was pronounced deceased.

A 54-year-old male and the sole occupant inside the second involved vehicle was contacted at the scene and is cooperative with the investigation. The man had complaint of pain as a result of the collision.

The third involved vehicle was unoccupied and had been parked along the curb of Industrial Blvd when the collision took place.

The victim’s identity is known but is not being released at this time, pending formal identification protocols by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau and notifications to next of kin.

It is not believed alcohol/impairment was a factor in this collision.

This is an active investigation and additional details will be released as they become available.

The Hayward Police Department case number is 2023-016203.

This is Hayward’s second fatal collision in 2023.
