Due to an overwhelming response from the community we are no longer accepting applications for the 2024 Summer Youth Academy:
If you submitted your child's application prior to Thursday, May 30, a staff member will reach out to you directly about your application status. If you are still looking for fun, free activities for your kids this summer, check out HPD's Summer Fun Recreational Program and the Hayward Public Library's Summer Learning Activities.
The Hayward Police Department will present its annual weeklong Summer Youth Academy during the month of July, offering an educational program designed to give students a greater understanding of how the Police Department is organized and operates in Hayward.
The Summer Youth Academy program, which also provides an opportunity for building familiarity and strengthening relationships between officers and young people, will be presented from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 8 through July 12.
The application period runs until Friday, June 17, and is open to students entering 8th through 12th grade for the 2024-2025 school year. Academy classes will be held at the Downtown Hayward Library and Hayward Executive Airport. Participants will be provided light snacks.
